Macbeth dvd - is it playable on a region 1 player?

I have seen the Macbeth dvd referred to as "Region 2 only", "region 0", and "Region2 with a dvd extra of Region 1"; can anyone tell me if they know for sure whether this dvd is playable on a NA machine, i.e. region 1?

I got the restored "Macbeth" from Amazon.uk, it is region 2 and Pal and would not play in a region 1 player. Because so many of Welles' films are unavailable in region 1, I recommend getting a second player - I got a Cyberhome DVD player from Best Buy (about $40). It handles both NTSC & PAL and is easily hackable to make it play any region you want. I now can enjoy not only "Macbeth" but also "Chimes at Midnight", "The Immortal Story", "Confidential Report" and "Don Quixote". Hope this helps.

I got the Cyberhome model CH-DVD 300S. It does not play all regions out of the box. However, I can verify that the hacks at the link posted by R Kadin work. This is the very site that I went to after buying the unit. Using the hacks listed (which are no more than just a couple steps) you can select "0" to play all regions or you can select a specific region. I have my player usually set at "0", however, some disks do not play on this setting so I have to set the machine to its specific region when I want to watch them. (The Jess Franco "Quixote" has this problem - the machine must be set to region 2). Picture quality is just as good as my Sony which a paid almost $300 for.

I bought a Cyberhome DVD player for $40 a few months ago, but I took it back because the picture was far too dark. Maybe I just got a bad one.
