So I guess I was wrong when I said that Beatrice probably wouldn't have any new Welles-related projects to announce. This sounds very promising. I've long felt that Orson Welles deserved some kind of museum or arthouse theatre named after him, and it looks like it might finally happen - in some form, anyway. But where will it be?
Thanks for the link, fantomas. BTW, I finally got an english translation of the program for the Mannheim Welles fest, so I was able to see more clearly what all went on. What an amazing lineup of programs! Sounds like there were quite a few fascinating lectures there, including the one by Jonathon Rosenbaum on Welles' view of America. Also, it sounds as if those six half-hour shorts by Welles (VIENNA, LONDON, MAGIC SHOW, MOBY DICK, SPIRIT OF LINDBURGH, and GOLDEN HONEYMOON) are being released together as one big program to cinemas around Germany. If true, I hope that makes it over here in the states too!
