I've heard through the grapevine that OSOTW may have finally been gotten all the legal clearances needed, and may actually premire on Showtime, May 15, 2007.

After all these years, the final masterpiece from this genius might go direct to TV?

Sad... :(

Actually, my source for this info is Gary Graver when he was in Aussie recently... And here is what he said. (of course take note of the word "supposed"...

"...It's supposed to happen in June 2007, through a cable company, with theatrical prints for the major cities with specialty theatres."

At this point I'd settle for having it world-premiere on the Food Channel, just as long as they've finally got it finished.

How about a premiere at Cannes followed by a theatrical release, instead of the Food Channel?

:)

Yes, that would be better. But the main thing for me is just being able to see it.

You would think that if there was actually any agreement written down, it would appear on the IMDb resume of Gary Graver, Peter Bogdanovich, Frank Marshall or Oja Kodar. Graver, Bogdanovich and Marshall are booked in other projects through 2008. Kodar hasn't had a credit since 1992.

Who knows, Glenn. I just hope that, if an arrangement exists, a certain somebody doesn't go out of their way to ruin it...

But Glenn: haven't those 3 guys all said it's close to happening? I wish we had a contact in Showtime!

I've often found that IMDB is one of the least relaible venues for official information (I think my aunt ruth has a better batting average). I'll keep an eye out in the trades and some reliable websites!

My sources tell me that Matthew Duda of Showtime will be finalizing a deal with Oja Kodar when he returns from Toronto, so Bogdanovich, Oja and Gary Graver can go ahead on the final work needed to finish OSOTW so it can be seen on the cable net sometime in mid to late 2007.

Let's just hope IT'S ALL TRUE!

Great news, Todd: Another bottle of Ha-Ra Club Deluxe English Dry Gin to that man!

We should all cautiously rejoice, it that is possible.

Gary's broken our hearts before.
You may remember me from such sites as imdb, amazon and criterionforum as Ben Cheshire.
