Screen Archives Entertainment is now accepting pre-orders for the Twilight Time release of “Jane Eyre” on Blu-ray.
Priced at $29.95, the Blu-ray, which stars Joan Fontaine and Orson Welles, has an anticipated release date of November 12.
Production is limited to 3,000 copies. It is region free, presented in 1080p high definition, and has a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The 1944 film has a running time of 96 minutes.
Adapted from Charlotte Brontë’s 1847 novel, “Jane Eyre” was directed by Robert Stevenson. The screenplay ws written by Stevenson, John Houseman, Aldous Huxley and Henry Koster. It was produced by William Goetz, Kenneth Macgowan, and Welles (uncredited).
Welles stars as Edward Rochester with Fontaine in the title role. The cast includes Margaret O’Brien, Agnes Moorehead and Elizabeth Taylor.
The Blu-ray includes the extras found on the 20th Century Fox’s 2007 DVD release: An audio commentary track featuring O’Brien and Welles expert Joseph McBride; “Locked in the Tower: The Men Behind Jane Eyre” featurette; the theatrical trailer; “Know Your Ally Britain” United States War Department Film directed by Robert Stevenson; an additional audio commentary with film historians Julie Kirgo, Nick Redman, and Steven C. Smith; and an isolated score track.
