BLACKWOOD INTERNATIONAL Presents an EL SILENCIO production DON QUIXOTE OF ORSON WELLES
Written, Directed & Narrated by ORSON WELLES Synopsis
With his faithful Sancho Panzo in tow, Don Quixote sets
off to accomplish impossible feats in the name of his beloved Dulcinea. In
Spain in the 1960's the same eccentric character conceived by Cervantes many
centuries ago, wanders aimlessly from one end of the country to another.
Don Quixote and Sancho are in a Spain of fear and desolation, where the people
cannot dare to be themselves, where they find their contemporary relief in
the running of the bulls, in the festivals of Moors and Christians, in religions
processions. In his uphill battle, Don Quixote struggles to revive the old
chivalric dream, supported by his squire, Sancho, ever more devoted, heart
and soul, to his master, and caught up in the same growing delirium. Orson
Welles, a new Cervantes, and his crew follow the two characters every move,
gradually taking command of the situation and influencing the destiny of both.
