A new 4K restoration of “The Trial” is now playing at Film Forum in New York City through December 22 before Rialto Pictures takes it nationwide.

The Film Forum screening marks the first U.S. showing of the restored “The Trial,” which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
“The Trial” will receive its release on UHD, Blu-ray and DVD via StudioCanal in Great Britain, France, and Germany in September. While a theatrical release in the U.S. is planned, a home video release date was not announced.
The restored version of “The Trial” will premiere at the 75th edition of the Festival de Cannes, which runs May 17-28. It is one of the Cannes Classics selections.
