Beginning August 26 with a screening of the documentary Magician: The Astonishing Life and Work of Orson Welles, Cornell Cinema will launch a two-month long series honoring the 100th anniversary of the late filmmaker’s birth.
There will be some weekday showings, but most of the screenings will take place on Saturday and Sundays through October 25.
The cinematic offerings range from Citizen Kane to F For Fake.
“Most of the films in the series are being screened on Saturday nights, with repeat screenings on Sunday nights,” Mary Fessenden, director of Cornell Cinema, told the Ithaca Journal. “I’m hoping our patrons take advantage of this great Saturday-night-at-the-movies option, seeing a classic Orson Welles film in the beautiful 1920s Willard Straight Theatre…”
In addition to the expected screening of Citizen Kane, the Ithaca, New York, theater will show the recent 4K digital restorations of The Lady From Shanghai and The Third Man, a 35mm prints of The Magnificent Ambersons, Mr. Arkadin and Macbeth.
Other offerings include Touch of Evil, The Trial and F For Fake.
