Orson Welles

It’s hard to keep up with the number of Orson Welles’ celebrations taking place this year.

At last count, there are more than two dozen notable tributes taking place on three continents.  The first centennial film festival took place in January and events are planned well past the 100th anniversary of Welles’ birth on May 6.

Wellesnet.com has witnessed the growing interest first hand.

Before the website expansion in 2012, Wellesnet attracted 13,000 unique monthly visitors. The audience has steadily grown month after month.

In March, 44,691 unique monthly visitors came to Wellesnet, contributing to a total of nearly 71,000 visits and more than 1.1 million hits. Most of the attention was focuses on the news postings, Message Board comments and photo galleries, as well as radio shows and video clips.

Yeah, we have been busy.

The majority of our readers – 63 percent – are based in the United States and Canada with another 26 percent living in Europe. We also have regular visitors each month from Australia, China, Philippines, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.

As always, we welcome tips and submissions, especially with the large number of events taking place this year. Wellesnet may be reached at contactwellesnet@gmail.com
