The Criterion Collection will release five Netflix titles in 2020.
Netflix announced at the Sundance Film Festival today that several of its prestige titles will be released on physical media this year.
Sadly, Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind was not among the movies mentioned.
In a social media posting, Netflix revealed that the Criterion Collection will issue The Irishman, Marriage Story, American Factory and Atlantics later this year.
Criterion has already announced it will release Netflix’s Oscar winning Roma on February 11.
The streaming giant — who bankrolled much of the cost of the $6 million completion of The Other Side of the Wind — has not been a fan of physical media releases in the past.
Last summer, The Other Side of the Wind producer Filip jan Rymsza said that a Blu-ray and DVD was in the works, but it “will take more time.”
“I’d rather not speculate, but I’m guessing it’ll be a while. There are many factors involved, but rest assured we’re working on something special,” Rymsza stated.
