He will lead a June 9 tribute screening of Jonathan Demme‘s The Silence of the Lambs. (Jackson worked on the 1991 Oscar winner while serving as an executive at Orion Pictures.)
The following day, Jackson will deliver a talk on the history of the film industry’s adaptation to changing technologies (talkies, radio, TV, internet, mobile devices, digital video, etc) entitled The End Is Near: Movies, Media, and ‘Doomsday Innovations.’
Jackson is a former vice president at Samuel Goldwyn Co., Orion Pictures and Miramax and the producer-director of the Welles-narrated Bugs Bunny Superstar. He was a former manager of the Orson Welles Cinema in Cambridge and produced An Evening With Orson Welles in Boston in 1977..
The Lake Placid forum will open with a screening of Eddie the Eagle, which is about the Olympic ski jumper Michael “Eddie” Edwards who trained in Lake Placid. Former United States Ski and Snowboard Association ski jumping coach Larry Stone will headline the panel.
Other screenings include Roman Holiday, The Silence of the Lambs and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,”which will be introduced by Dr. Peter Ostrum who played Charlie in the movie, plus seven independent films.
Tickets are $10 per screening or an all-Forum screenings pass can be bought from the Adirondack Film Society for $79.
