Orson Welles retrospect running for 3 weeks in Portland, Oregon

The centennial year of Orson Welles’ birth is drawing to a close and the Northwest Film Center in Portland, Oregon is offering the last major retrospect of 2015.

Its Orson Welles at 100 series kicks off on Saturday, December 12, and will continue through January 4 with a wide assortment of Welles-directed films, notable acting performances and a documentary.

The Northwest Film Center offers what it accurately described as a primer of Welles’ work. “While it proudly features some of his most lauded masterpieces, the series also dives deeper into some of Welles’ lesser-known work, as well as a handful of films he acted in and sometimes surreptitiously produced and directed.”

Citizen Kane, Dec. 12 and Dec. 14; The Magnificent Ambersons, Dec. 13, and Dec. 15; Journey Into Fear, Dec. 17; Jane Eyre, Dec. 18; The Third Man, Dec. 19 and Dec. 21; The Lady from Shanghai, Dec. 19; Macbeth, Dec. 19; Black Magic, Dec. 20; Othello, Dec. 20; The Stranger, Dec. 22; Touch of Evil, Dec. 26 and Dec. 28; Mr. Arkadin (Confidential Report), Dec. 26, and Dec. 27; Compulsion, Dec. 27; The Trial, Jan. 1, and  Jan. 2; Magician: The Astonishing Life and Work of Orson Welles, Jan. 2; Chimes At Midnight, Jan. 2; The Immortal Story, Jan. 3.; and F For Fake, Jan. 3 and Jan. 4.

The movies will be screened at Whitsell Auditorium on1219 S.W. Park Ave. Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for students/seniors and $6 for children.
