Brazil, where Orson Welles filmed his ill-fated documentary It’s All True, will be home to the latest centennial tribute to the late filmmaker.
Festival do Rio will include a celebration of Welles’ cinematic work of next month.
The Rio de Janeiro festival, which runs October 1-14, will present 250 films from more than 60 countries at 20 locations throughout the city.
Among the Welles-directed offerings: Too Much Johnson, The Magnificent Ambersons, Chimes at Midnight, Around the World with Orson Welles, and Othello.
In addition, three documentaries will be shown: Orson Welles, Shadows and Light; This Is Orson Welles and Magician: The Astonishing Life and Work of Orson Welles.
Festival do Rio was the result of a 1999 merger of two previous film festivals, the Rio Cine Festival and the Mostra Banco Nacional de Cinema, founded in 1984 and 1988 respectively
