touch of evil, first scene in tanner's shabby little bordello. quinlan all greasy and slobbering, looking at the skinny tramp with lust in his eyes, "any way, you sure are looking good." and: on the bridge, "vargas, vargas, vargas, all you want to talk about is varga!" Citizen Kane: I'm the one that...

rkadin, i captured a copy of the restored TOE shown on ENCORE, and it had as much image as the LD. but who knows. maybe one of our in-house experts can shed some light on this.

i don't have an axe to grind with schmidlin. it was just funny how when he was posting here no matter what he said all the minnions were lining up behind him, thus my messiah comment. at first schmidlin defended the lbx version then later he admited he had nothing to do with the lbxing. i never plac...

absolutley, glenn. and the reason i so fervently argue this, is that i am passionate about welles and everything he ever did. i hate the thought of some one new to welles seeing TOE in a less than desirable form and think that this is the best welles could do. it's not. most here admit that the lbx ...

maxreal, the jaime m. post you are refering to is where he writes about the stripper sign above rancho grande. like the castle in arkadin, this sign is visible as a location anchor point in much of the film. welles went through great pains to make sure this sign hovers above the in-town scenes, and ...

jaime said: Presumably the experts that you disagree with also "watched the film," and came up with a different conclusion. My reply: amaizing how that happens. i will go see a movie that the experts say is good, and it sucks. it also happesn the other way around. i guess it just depends which exper...
