DVD Beaver has published a comparison between two DVD releases of Welles Don Quixote.
Both are the Jess Franco version.
Lots of screenshots. The page takes some time to load if you're on a dialup.

Try www.play.com Very reliable company, based on Jersey I think.
The have it for delivery within 24 hours.
I have never tried them for shipping to the US so I can't guarantee it will work, but but for the UK they work great.

I finally got my copy of the Italian DVD and unfortunately I have to side with R Kadin here. It's the only Welles film ever I have not watched in one sitting (it took three!). There were some nice isolated shots, but Welles performance was a big disappointment and I saw nothing of the usual flair in...

Can't remember seeing this here (could be wrong of course, if so apologies!). SciFi has put up a Radio Play about the making of Orson's famous radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. The plot is about some aliens who hears the broadcast and like many Americans thinks it's for real and rush to assist e...

The Spanish DVD is in PAL format, so so it runs aproximately 4% too fast (as does all PAL video transfers). That pretty much explains the difference in timing.

DVD Times has published a review of the UK DVD of Confidential Report: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=5800 I bought this when it came out and I was favourably surprised at the picture quality of this despite of what they say in the review. It is also very cheap, £5.-. Note that the ...

As far as I know the only DVD of Napoleon in existance is the Australian one, which is the cut-down Coppola version with his father's score (which is better than it's reputation, I must admit, but I still prefer the Carl Davis score). take the folowing with a grain of salt, but I think this is the s...

I too can't accept that it should be impossible to one day see the complete original Ambersons. However, the comparison with the Ghoul is not really valid as it did receive distribution and several prints therefore were in circulation. Ambersons never did and I doubt that any more than a workprint e...

Thanks Narshty, you made my day! Living in London, and being a frequent visitor to the nft I canät understand how I could have missed this! But I had no clue. I suppose that speaks volumes about the PR efforts of the nft. I almost missed their huge Melville retrospective this summer for pretty much ...

Well, I went ahead and ordered it. Will report back when I receive it. The reviews on the Amazon site were interesting as there seems to be yet another episode, viva Itala, not on the DVD. Looks like I have to check with the BBC archives how many episodes where really made. It turned out that DVDsoo...
