Re: Netflix films headed to Criterion; no word on ‘The Other Side of the Wind’
But even if Criterion does eventually release this film, the backers--the people who were the first in line to put up their money--will essentially just have paid a premium to pre-order a title years in advance, and since Criterion blu-rays can be regularly bought for $20, we'll have paid more than...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
It took a year, but Jonathan Rosenbaum has finally posted his The Other Side of the Argument on his website: http://www.jonathanrosenbaum.net/2019/10/the-other-side-of-the-argument-first-thoughts-on-orson-welles-demonic-fugue/ It was first published a year ago in Europe, so he had time to rectify so...

Re: Inventory of unrealized Welles projects
Does this Orson Welles reading of the story of Noah on The Dick Cavett Show come from his unproduced Two By Two screenplay?

Re: 'Citizen Kane' on CNN's The Movies
BM was very sly, saying OW knew to hire people who has expertise in fields where he had none, like cinematography, composing, etc. and of course writing. Glossing over the fact that OW had a long experiene in scriptwriting and adaptations for radio and the theater... sly /slī/ adjective having or s...

Re: 'The Eyes of Orson Welles' - documentary on Welles artwork
It is indeed essentially fodder for the Welles cognoscenti and not an introduction to his work for the uninitiated. ...the second-person narration which generally sounded like bad nouveau roman from the 50s and 60s.
Do the italics mean this is intentionally grandiloquent?

Happy to ask. I will let you know if/when I hear back.
Any news from Filip Jan Rymsza on the Indiegogo blu-rays???????

I don't understand your re-cut. I like the removal of Rich Little. Is that one second shot of the back of Rich Little's head in a darkly lit scene really that jarring to people? After finally getting my digital download of "The Other Side of the Wind," I rewatched the scene, made some scr...

Still waiting for mine, but good to know they are finally arriving.
I saw on Twitter someone else got their download today -- and it is a mp4.

I am glad some of the Amberson essays from the blu-ray are online at criterion.com.
I know it is my aging eyes, but I found the booklet hard to read.

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
Being the daughter of a talented filmmaker doesn't mean she knows anything about editing. Frankly, I'm thankful she wasn't consulted and that those who were actually involved in the film's production steered the picture to completion. Let’s look at Beatrice Welles professional resume: Wannabe teen ...

Re: Third Man now on Netflix...with subtitles
...the version of The Third Man that is on Netflix has subtitles for all the foreign dialogue! What more, there is no option to turn off the new translation of the non-English dialogue. Maybe to be more specific, the translation can be turned off, but only when the actual English captions are turne...
