Re: Don Quijote
As a Cinémathèque française subscriber, I received an e-mail explaining that there will be a new screening for Don Quichotte (the work print, I presume!) monday 27th july, at 8 pm (in Paris). Here's the text from the e-mail below : "Chers abonnés, Suite au succès du film "Don Quichotte&quo...

Re: Don Quijote
The footage with the sheep, Sancho Panca running behind a big and rich car, the abandoned railway car, the telescope were part of the workprint, as well as very few shots from the dvd if my memory is good. But I must confess that I didn't watch it for two years. So I may be wrong. I was a little dis...

Re: Lady from Shanghai: August 17, 1946 Draft
Yes. I will be delighted to send you the draft by mail.
You will find the quotation from Richard Wilson in "Orson Welles at work" by François Thomas and Jean-Pierre Berthomé.
I recommend highly this book because it's very well-documented.

Re: Lady from Shanghai: August 17, 1946 Draft
Hi A Sled in Flames! Roger Ryan explained very well the things about the deleted scenes. I'm sure it's helpful. I know Richard Wilson talked about the director's cut in at least one book, but I can't remember where I read it. I'm sorry... If you are still interested, I downloaded the draft you're lo...

Re: don Q and orson's soundtrack
As many of you, I was deceived by the released version. I felt uncomfortable with such a bad edit, the footage with Orson Welles and the lack of indication about the missing footage on the DVD sleeve... Though I hope for a new edit, I don't want to disparage Jess Franco. I'm certain he did his best ...

Re: Cut footage from LfS and Stranger
Thanks for these interessant informations! :) Even without the preview cards, several elements make me think that the public should have been puzzled in 1946-48 because of the camera movement (the MA's previews cards already talk about a "camera crazy") and the nightmarish or morbid stills...

Re: Preliminary Magnificent Ambersons DVD info on amazon.com
She's amazing in Jane Eyre. I saw this movie yesterday for the first time and found her very impressive as Mrs Reed. Although she plays a minor character (she appears about five minutes in the whole movie!), I can't forget her performance. Agnes Moorehed is a very underrated actress. Sadly, a lot of...

Re: Questions about The Magnificent Ambersons
Without a complete continuity script, I’m afraid it will be difficult (if not impossible) to create a video reconstitution for The Lady from Shangaï. I think we only could use one second in the theatrical trailer, some stills, and the 1946 « Take this woman » screenplay to fill in the gaps from the ...

Re: Questions about The Magnificent Ambersons
I thank you all very much for this fascinating precisions. Many things appear more clearly now to me. :D I agree with you about the strong relationship between Orson Welles and his composer : I trust He said that music count for fifty percent from his films! I bought the CD with Tonny Bremmer's reor...
