Re: Kane on Blu-ray
Maybe The Eyes of Orson Welles will be a extra on the KANE release? Yeah, I guess it could be included. I've been wondering if and how Criterion would release that one. It doesn't strike me as something that would get it's own release, but then again, Criterion did release David Lynch: The Art Life...

Re: Kane on Blu-ray
Thank you for that! I was actually planning on getting the 75th anniversary blu before I read the article on here saying that there was a Criterion release coming alongside the post from yesterday on Criterionforum that also confirmed the future Criterion release. I guess I'll wait for that to come...

Re: THE TRIAL On Blu-Ray
Tipster told me that the StudioCanal restoration of The Trial has been acquired by a label for U.S. release on Blu-ray. The chatter is that it is not KinoLorber, which leaves several other interesting choices out there. With The Trial being Studio Canal, I was doubtful it would be Criterion who wou...

Re: Is The Mr. Arkadin Criterion DVD still in print?
It would be great news if a Criterion Blu-ray is confirmed. I'm sure I read somewhere previously they they were definitely intending to upgrade it at some point. I would expect a Blu-ray release to be sans novelisation, but I guess there could be additional disc content, like the F for Fake upgrade.

Re: Criterion release of 'The Magnificent Ambersons'
Criterion will be releasing The Magnificent Ambersons in the UK on the 10th December (Othello will also be released on the same day). Ambersons will come in a DigiPack as opposed to the regular Scanavo keep case.

Re: The Stranger Blu-ray from Olive Films on Aug. 29, 2017
It will be interesting to see what source Olive uses for this release. The most recent Blu-ray edition (from Kino) came from a Library of Congress print which I believe dated back to the film's initial release in 1946. Despite some tram lines, a few missing frames, and, most regrettably, approximat...

Re: Criterion releases Othello on blu-ray
I perhaps shouldn't focus on the negative of Filming Othello not being included. To be getting a 4K restoration of both the 1952 and 1955 versions (including original mono soundtracks) is brilliant and something I'm sure most Welles fans were probably hoping for but not expecting.

Re: Criterion releases Othello on blu-ray
Criterion has revealed that the final bonus feature for its release of Othello is: Souvenirs d’“Otello,” a 1995 documentary about actor Suzanne Cloutier by François Girard While some (all?) were hoping Filming Othello would be included, perhaps the Welles documentary will receive a separate release...

Re: Searching for Orson (Jakov and Dominik Sedlar, 2006)
I hadn't seen it myself and was surprised to find it. Having now seen it, I would certainly recommend it. In terms of Welles' unfinished films, it covers some of the same ground as ONE MAN BAND but it also chooses to focus quite a bit on Welles' relationship with Oja Kodar as well.

Re: Welles dream: Wouldn't it be nice to have...
This would indeed be nice to have, but the economics of the set would likely be a problem, because such a set would not be cheap, and would be a very niche product in an already niche market. It probably wouldn't review well, due to the rough and unfinished nature of much of the work. Take The Deep...

Re: Welles dream: Wouldn't it be nice to have...
It would be great for a Blu-ray distributor like Criterion to release the unfinished works that are held at the Munich Film Museum. I'm assuming a deal would still need to be done with Oja Kodar who owns the rights to these films. However that doesn't look likely to happen in the near future from wh...

Re: The Immortal Story on DVD & Blu-Ray
Excellent news that this is being released by Criterion and the extras look good as well. The commentary appears to be the one from the region 4 DVD released by Madman.
