Re: Young Orson by Patrick McGilligan

I found reading "Young Orson" a deeply satisfying experience. I learned much I had not known before about his parents, older brother Richard, his childhood and early years. What stays with me is the excitement McGilligan captured of those early years and Welles's rise to fame in radio and ...

Re: ‘My Lunches with Orson" from Henry Jaglom

I find it deplorable that Jaglom's book is coming out 28 years after OW's death which raises the question of why Jaglom has waited all this time to publish the edited transcriptions. Of course there are a number of other questions: how would OW have edited the transcriptions if he'd been given the c...

Re: ‘My Lunches with Orson" from Henry Jaglom

Hello Swell, I was most interested to read your post since you have confirmed what I was told at the time by someone close to Welles: that he had never authorized Jaglom to tape their luncheon conversations and that when he found out about the taping, he was extremely upset and felt "betrayed&q...

How tragic for Princess Yasmin to lose her son, her only child, at the age of 25! I feel for her.

Re: Luck and Circumstance by Michael Lindsay-Hogg

Ray, I agree with you that it's odd Michael relied on what Geraldine''s friends told him rather than a DNA test to prove his parentage. This does not sound very convincing to me, but I am keeping an open mind until I have read his book. I've just ordered it from Amazon.com and should have it by the ...

Ray, I agree. A Orson Welles centennial stamp in 2015 would be terrific!

Re: US Postal Service stamps to honor Great Directors in 2012

I assumed Orson Welles was left out of the 2012 Great Directors series because of the 1999 commemorative stamp which was intended to honor him as well as "Citizen Kane."

Arthur Anderson's memoir "An Actor's Odyssey"

As most of you know, Arthur Anderson's claim to fame is that at the age of fifteen, he shared the stage with Orson Welles, playing Lucius to his Brutus in the Mercury Theatre's groundbreaking production of "Julius Caesar." In his new memoir, "An Actor's Odyssey: Orson Welles to Lucky ...

Re: "In my father's Shadow" by Chris Welles Feder

Keats, Thank you for your complimentary words about my book. They are most appreciated. Well, I guess my identity on this forum is no longer a secret....if it ever was. But now I feel self-conscious and won't be posting too often, although I will continue to read with great interest what everyone he...

Re: "In my father's Shadow" by Chris Welles Feder

I've always thought of a memoir as a highly selective collection of a writer's reminiscences, as opposed to an autobiography which recounts the writer's entire life. Unlike a biographer, a memoirist can pick and choose what to include and what to leave out. So I agree with you, Keats, that each memo...

Re: The Chinese Theater Sequence in THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI.

Keats, I am sorry to have to say this, but I am getting so bored with your posts, your self-importance and your attacks on Glenn. I wish you would take up less space on the message board or confine your posts to instances where you have something of value to contribute, such as fresh information abo...

Re: The Chinese Theater Sequence in THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI.

If only some of our intelligent Wellesnetters had been around when Harry Cohn exclaimed, after seeing the rough cut of THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, "I'll give a thousand dollars to anyone who can explain the story to me!"
