Re: Orson Wells and Star Trek: TMP's teaser and TV spots

Such vivid memories, of trekking up to the Times Square area with NYU buddies, and waiting for that (16mm?) trailer to run again on the outside viewer...

MUCH more positive a memory, than when actually seeing THE MOTIONLESS PICTURE when it opened at the old downstairs Paramount!

Re: Hunt for lost 'Magnificent Ambersons' footage in Brazil

My hope remains that - as with much such "Reality (!) TV" - the trick here is that the ballyhoo and "mystery" is just a milking of the fact that they actually do already have something in hand...

Re: Les Mis

Hazy memory here, but wasn't it the Smithsonian set that was also missing a few minutes towards the end?

That's why I've always kept my nice cassettes of the Radio Yesteryear version.

Well, my statement was conditional!

I just ran a quick check at RadioGOLDindex, and in the list in Callow's first book.

Re: Marlowe and Shakespeare

Martyn - Well, what do you Britishters know about Will from Avon, anyway? Just funning, of course. But then, like a lot of odd conspiracy theories, this one seems more popular among we Colonials? (John Wilkes Booth survived to old age; Hitler moved to South America; man did not land on the mo...

Re: Lost 1936 Show - FOUND!

Chief - Alas, at this point, those guys only Stream Live - they don't Archive or Pod. (They said they may make an exception in this case; I'll keep ya'll posted.) As we discussed during the show, that ABSOLUTE cd set is a Modern Audio Drama redo of the original series; so there's no Orson on board. ...

Re: Lost 1936 Show - FOUND!

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised that there's so little interest in what looks fair to be the earliest extant Welles transcription! The episode of PETER ABSOLUTE dates from May 10th, 1936 - and the estimable RadioGOLDINex's first listing is for a March 13, 1936 "March Of Time." And ...

Re: Marlowe and Shakespeare

Martyn - With genuine respect, I would submit that this topic is fairly mainstream at this point. At least, as much as any Shakespeare talk is "mainstream"; that depends on how wide that net is thrown. But "The Shakespeare Controversy," or, "The Shakespeare Authorship Contro...

Re: Marlowe and Shakespeare

Longer quotes, with more nuance ~ https://www.kpbs.org/news/2016/oct/24/christopher-marlowe-officially-credited-as-co/ Did Will from Avon sometimes base his work on earlier material? Yes. Were other hands sometimes involved in crafting Shakespeare's plays (including not only other writers, but fello...

BURLESQUE revealed?

Radio Archives has some new Campbell's available - and I believe this one is not in the Lilly's collection?
