I wonder why Peter Bogdanovich doesn't name the major American company he's dealing with as Showtime. It's quite clear from the London Express article that Beatrice has already staked her claim, so it's not likely that she's suddenly going to find out about the project and try to stop it at this po...

I just saw some great info on a blog site which seems to be dedicated to the upcoming DVD release of MR. Arkadin.

http://orsonology.blogspot.com/

It has a long interview interview with Orson Welles on Mr. Arkadin, and some quotes from reviews of Confidential Report.

Noel: You make some very interesting comments and notes about what was changed in TOUCH OF EVIL, but I must strongly disagree with you on one major point regarding what Universal changed per Welles memos. Namely, the 108 minute preview version was just that. A version that never got released, and ne...

Heres some of Welles comments on OSOTW taken from the excellent interview done by Bill Krohn printed in the Munich Film Museum's beautifully done book on THE UNKNOWN ORSON WELLES. This long interview is alone worth the $25.00 price of the book, as is was done in 1982, and essentially covers all of W...

F For Fake is a very important film because it asks the one question every artist has to face at some point in his career. What is Art? —Jean Renoir According to Gary Graver, Welles also wasn't even present for the shooting of the Chartes sequence in FFF. He just told Gary what he needed and sent hi...

Another quote from Mr. Welles: OW: I've never cared much for movies, I never cared much for the theater, you know, I just loved doing it, which makes me a very bad person to interview on the subject that these magazines are about (movies). All I read about and care about is politics, all of my life....

Here's a summation of how THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND was going to end. Jake Hannaford and all the guests at his Birthday party drive their cars out to a local drive-in after the power at Hannaford's ranch fails. Once at the drive-in, the screening of Hannaford's movie continues, and shortly afterwar...

Here's a humorous little quote from FILMING THE TRIAL: ORSON WELLES: I see the monstrous bureaucracy, which is the villain of the piece, as not only Kafka’s clairvoyant view of the future, but of his racial and cultural background — of being occupied by the Austria-Hungarian Empire. I see a curious ...

Talk about legal technicality's - Beatrice Welles is now the proud owner of two "Citizen Kane" Oscars, so she can sell the original, and still keep the duplicate! The March 4th ruling by Los Angeles U.S. District Court Judge Dean Pregerson held that the right-of-first refusal agreement Beatrice Well...

Just saw the opening of Bogdanovich's "The Mystery of Natalie Wood," and just like Brooks Otterlake, he's clearly borrowing from Welles... The film opens, like OSOTW with the drowing death of Natalie Wood, and then goes back to Wood's beginning... and also like OSOTW, it uses film clips, still photo...

Reading the above comments from Graver, it sounds to me like Welles may have been psuedo-friendly with Jaglom, in the vain hope that he might contribute some funds towards the backing of one of his movies, rather than using the money to fund one of Jaglom's own awful films... which is why Welles pro...

Since OSOTW has a homosexual subplot, I'm afraid the highly homophophic Mr. Gibson can be safely ruled out as a possible backer... And did anyone see Ian Mckellan on Bill Maher the other night... he was just fabulous in putting down the bigots who are coming out of the woodwork against gay marriage ...
