Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix

Oh I agree, big step forward but you never know what can happen. I am a bit concerned that are they able to replicate/recreate Welles' editing style, because he had his own style.

There's been so many false starts and stops that I believe it when I see it.

Re: TOSOTW - Coming in 2015!

I think they made a mistake that they put the crowdfunding campaign to IndieGoGo as Kickstarter is much more popular and has much larger userbase, I think they could already have a lot more in pledges if it'd been in Kickstarter. Indiegogo has a MAJOR advantage over Kickstarter. You can keep the mo...

Re: Touch of Evil on Blu-ray

Universal is one of the worst publishers when it comes to blu-rays, a lot of their blurays has been ruined either by using vastly outdated masters or then rubbing the film with DNR so when Universal eventually releases Touch of Evil, expect it to be utter gash. I'd be very surprised if they doesn't ...

Re: Chimes at Midnight

Unfortunately Palladium's/HMV's Chimes at Midnight is the same as Spanish DVD is, don't waste your money to this sad excuse of the DVD.

Re: Chimes at Midnight

Chimes at Midnight (aka Falstaff) has been released on DVD in UK, exclusively sold in HMV for now. Apparently company or label Paladium is behind the release. Since I haven't found any reviews or comments from forums I frequent, I ordered it. Low budget-price doesn't promise a lot (only 5.99 gbp, SR...

Re: Vincent D'Onofrio – Five Minutes, Mr. Welles

I liked Five Minutes Mr. Welles quite a lot, even though it probably doesn't show Welles in the light we would like to. Beside the stellar look and cinematography, I like D'Onofrio's acting, and I think he is one of the few actors who gets even close to the stature and the ability of Welles in actin...

Re: Kane on Blu-ray

It's extremely rare that movies are cropped to 1.78:1 from the wider aspectratios, such as 2.35:1 in the blu-rays, or from 1.33:1 to 1.78:1. I know only one blu-ray, Equilibrium's UK Blu-ray which was cropped to fit 16:9 screen. It depends a lot on the DVDs which look good, and which doesn't in high...

Re: Kane on Blu-ray

Old movies can look much better in blu-ray than in the DVD, just look at the Casablanca and The Criterion Collection's wonderful release of The Third Man.

Has anyone on this forum made DVD from Criterions LD-release of Othello? it's very hard to find original Othello anywhere, even on vhs.

I got last week "restored" Othello from KoreanDVDS.com, only 11.08 USD to the Finland with postage so its very cheap but i haven't watched it yet.

Hi, i am new in forum and i ask something rightaway.

I watched Tim Burtons excellent Ed Wood couple weeks ago and i've been wondering is meeting between Ed Wood and Orson Welles based on fact or is it pure fiction?
