Re: Alternate

Hi, Ray! I only just saw this... I was getting rid of an old password on various logins, that has been hacked. Long time since I wrote that -- do not have that particular DVD any longer (can't remember why; maybe ditching stuff during a house move)... so I can't answer the question with certainty. B...

Just popping in for the first time in MONTHS... unfortunately, my mother passed away on May 27th and since then it's been much grief, practical stuff, house sale and, right now, an impending move. If I failed to respond to anyone's mails, my apologies -- I try not to do that normally. (One person f...

No, they are a bit dark. Slightly less so on TV, but the image also has poorer contrast than, say, the Voyager or BWS versions. (As is usually the case with old theatrical prints.)

That reminds me... as promised, a few more grabs... http://www.chezchrissie.co.uk/othello4.jpg http://www.chezchrissie.co.uk/othello5.jpg These are from the spoken credits. Of which, this is a brief sound sample . http://www.chezchrissie.co.uk/othello2.jpg This is the first exchange between Iago an...

Emilia enters the room at Othello's invitation. Desdemona is hidden behind the bed curtain, but she calls out and Emilia looks through just as she says a few final words and 'O, farewell!' It was the smothering that killed her, but not immediately. Not the most realistic death ever, but OW is very ...

Didn't do any grabs yet, but here's an interesting thing... as far as I can tell, it's 100% the same as the French-dubbed version BUT... 'that' shot of Desdemona's face isn't there! Everything else is, but that one's gone. Presumably, it fell victim to the censors back when it first hit the shores ...

Yeah, I'm a bit busy for a couple of hours, but I'll try to grab one or two other images later tonight.

Being trivial, about that mole. I think I first noticed it in The Third Man, maybe even a still from it. But he has it in everything, even when he was old. It just doesn't always show up too much. The black makeup in Othello emphasises it a bit.

Yeah, I was on a (music) list where they called it seeding, but same thing. I don't mind doing a few, and I'm not especially looking for trades, either, as I have most of the OW material I was specifically looking for... I think this is important material and I don't wanna go, 'Mwahhh, all mine!' I...

Okay, here's a screen grab:

But perhaps of greater interest:

Extra dialogue snippet

(Which I will be deleting after a couple of days to save my bandwidth, so grab it while y'can...)

No, I meant someone sent me the French version ages ago. The differences above are noted from the English.

Well, I got it today. I have got the French-dubbed version, but knowing only a tiny bit of French I found this prohibitively distracting personally, so I haven't actually sat through it. I've only yet glanced the opening scenes here, but obviously the editing directly after the spoken credits is ma...

Right, so I should be getting this shortly (maybe tomorrow), and I'm told the recording, though 23+ years old, is in great condition. Out of interest, as I assume most people here who've seen this print only know it in its French-dubbed incarnation, he sent me these notes on how it differs from the...

Been real busy and out of touch with the board for a couple of months, so if I owe anyone an e-mail, I'll be getting to it shortly... But I really wanted to mention that it appears my quest for the 1982 BBC2 Othello broadcast might have paid off. I've heard from someone who appear to have a tape of...

No, I'm guessing he meant JW had a kind of huge greatness about him. Visually, presumably.
