hadji emailed to say jeff never posts here any more and glenn just stormed off in a hissy-fit and will probably not come back.

maybe this place will be ok again and we can post our odd welles finds without someone kicking dirt on it.

As some of you might have noticed, my charm, my dazzling wit and welles insight has been absent from this board for sometime, but on this sad occasion I felt it necessary to break the silence and say that I'm as stricken by Gary's passing as all of you are. He was such a great guy and made himself ...

i would like to tell you that everything you post is full of shit, but i don't. I have more self control than you have. if some one posts here, "hey, i found such and such." my first instinct is to see what i have that i can offer for trade. you and glenn's first instinct is to degrade. why be ugly...

jeff said: It doesn't irk me at all. I am simply presenting material supporting the opposite view. i said: your presentation of facts on IMMORTAL STORY you offered with great authority, without ever looking at what i found. you are comfortable quoting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand sources to discredit my ...

why do the things i find irk you so much, wilson? like the gay character thing in the short draft of kane that i posted about. that irked you. now this irks you. instead of saying, "that's interesting, maybe we have discovered something. want to trade me something for it so i can see it for myself?...

when i saw the new dvd of IMMORTAL STORY i posted here that it was not right. that i have a vhs that looks wild, and dramatic, and the dvd looks normal and boring. some of the experts here scoffed at that, and implied that i didn't know what i was talking about. now i see this review here posted by...

years and years ago i did read about a strange murder that happened in a hotel in milan (?) where welles, shortly after he left america, was staying . it brought to mind the black dahlia accusations. but if dates are quoted right in the welles bios, during the black dahlia murder welles was home re...

run through has some very cool stuff in it. welles living in a big house and catching a boat across the river to get to the theater, and his bed being a piece of wood and mattress set atop a big tub. he would remove the wood and matress to bathe. welles, like the mobsters, and the kenedys didn't su...

the houseman book is great. a lot of people have said houseman is full of crap, but a lot of the stuff in that book, to me, doesn't seem so far off the mark. it made me an even bigger welles fan.

the 2 FOCUS books are real good. they also have one on DW Griffith that is good.

yes, the bret wood book is also great. especially the reference section. i have those 2 articles he wrote on stranger and lady from shanghai. both are real good. i don't like ripping off writers and photocopying books, but if they are out of print, that's all you can do. the houseman book, A RUN TH...

rosenbaum's, and bogdanovich's intros in that book are nothing short of fabulous. and what follows is even better. bogdanovich has written some fabulous stuff. WHO THE DEVIL MADE IT, and PIECES OF TIME are both euphoric reads. the hawks, and hitch interviews in WHO THE DEVIL MADE IT are the best in...
