Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
Received my posters and I love them. Does anyone know the dimensions of the larger poster? I want to get frames for the both of them. The smaller one is standard movie poster size, so that will be easy. I can measure it, but with its size, that will be a two-man job, so I thought I’d check if anyone...

Re: Unmasking Frank Capra
Joe, I heard you on Midnight Writer News talking about Capra and the struggles to get the book out. I really enjoyed it and will be picking up both your Capra books.

Although I’ve only watched it a half dozen times, same here.

Indeed, what a year it was.
Ray, sorry to hear that in a year with so many great things happening, you had troubles at work and home. Hopefully 2019 will be better for you.

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
Still waiting for mine, but good to know they are finally arriving. I saw on Twitter someone else got their download today -- and it is a mp4. https://twitter.com/al_tran/status/1075436693208092677 Did you ever receive your download? I never did get mine. I’ll admit that in my impatience, and in my...

Re: Criterion release of 'The Magnificent Ambersons'
I am absolutely convinced that somewhere in Brazil is the Magnificant Amberson rough cut I think a lot of us here hold out hope that print is somewhere in Brazil. I’m not going to say it’s impossible, because look what happened with Orson’s own TOO MUCH JOHNSON, or Fritz Lang’s METROPOLIS. Anything...

I guess a large swath of late ‘60s/early ‘70s American cinema is out of the question for this reviewer.

John Dale speaks! Bob Random on ‘The Other Side of the WInd’ "The first time I saw it was on Netflix. However, I had been in possession of all my edited work on video tape for 40-plus years, thanks to Orson’s right-hand man Gary Graver. Of course, I have no idea of what Orson was trying to do ...

The film-with-a-film has is detractors and admirers. For the latter, Vashi Nedomansky (editor of Sharknado 2 ) has compiled those 35mm scenes into a 23-minute block. Not sure how long it will remain online, but you can see it at http://vashivisuals.com/orson-welles-final-masterpiece-the-other-side-...

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
Excellent point, Roger. As much as we can all get sucked into auteur theory, film is a very collaborative medium. Orson directed this film, plain and simple. The disclaimer at the beginning about attempting to honor his vision is the only footnote needed.

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
I enjoyed the Netflix article. Congrats to them for taking the gamble, and having it pay off. It seems like it’s been more of a success, viewership-wise, than most would have anticipated. I doubt that any other Welles film debuted in the top 10 of anything in its opening weekend. Any word on the dig...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
That David Ehrenstein review is one of the densest, stupidest, most hateful things I've ever read. Thanks for pointing that out, because I am done reading idiotic takes on the movie. This thing is a masterpiece of the Orson Welles canon, of New Hollywood auteurist cinema, and of American indie film...
