Re: Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic coming to Netflix

This film will be on Netflix this fall. "Mank" along with Aaron Sorkin's 'The Trial of the Chicago 7', will be heavily promoted in October. "Mank" is likely to wrongly leave millions of viewers with the impression that Orson Welles stole the Oscar winning screenplay credit for Ci...

Re: Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic coming to Netflix

Filming on "Mank" wrapped in February of 2020. The New York Times wrote: "Netflix might be tempted to push year-end awards films like David Fincher’s “Mank” and Ron Howard’s “Hillbilly Elegy” into 2021." I think that over time, Awards films have more influence on popular percepti...

Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic coming to Netflix

I think that this new film could be a danger to the truth about the authorship of Citizen Kane. This is not an amateur home movie. This an established director and he is using major talent. For those reasons, the theme of the film will be given credibility. The impact of Carringer's excellent schola...

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix

Welles filmed in a Turkish Bath when he did not have costumes In the same spirit, did he have the blackout at the party to avoid having to light the scenes, or was it perhaps because he was going to use different locations to shoot the party scenes and he wanted it to be easier to integrate them int...

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix

I live in Southern California and I have a question about theater screenings the week of Nov. 2nd for "The Other Side of The Wind".

Has there been any word yet on which theater(s?) in Southern California will be screening the film?

.
In addition to directing the film, Tim Robbins wrote a good book on the history of The Federal Theater and Blitzstein's Cradle.

I'd like to see Touchstone do some kind of update on the movie.

I'm a big fan of Tim Robbins' "Cradle Will Rock"

Does anyone know if it is going to be re-issued?

Ray,

The recording of Welles's comments during "An Evening of Orson Welles" in Boston in January 1977, has never been played for the public.

What a wonderful opportunity it would be, after 30 years to hear his views, in detail, in the theater named after him.

Why isn't the recording available?

Is it not reasonable for you, as webmaster, to know the correct name,
(keeping it in confidence) of all posters?

Jeff,

At one point you had indicated that it should be prohibited to post under multiple names and that posters should use either their first or last names as their only sign on.

I think that was a fair policy that, if enforced, could dramatically reduce incidents of abuse on this board.

Gordon.
