Re: TOO MUCH JOHNSON Found!
A representative from Mr. Bongo emailed me back to say that all their Blurays are Region free. So I will probably try ordering the TOO MUCH JOHNSON disc at some point.

Re: TOO MUCH JOHNSON Found!
Richard Brody's review of a MOMA showing of TOO MUCH JOHNSON: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/richard-brody/too-much-johnson-all-welles Which leads me to ask the following questions to you good folks: 1. Is this any different than the material on the Mr. Bongo Bluray released overseas? 2. Is the M...

Re: "Orson Rehearsed" - new Opera by Daron Hagen
Thanks for sharing the interview again. I think that this has potential to be a really interesting project for Welles fans, in the vein of Welles's more experimental works.

Interview with Welles opera composer Daron Hagen
I interviewed composer Daron Hagen about his upcoming opera project based on the life of Orson Welles, Orson Rehearsed.

Re: Welles newspaper columns
Thanks for the reply. That seems like it would be a fascinating collection though.

Welles newspaper columns
Have the various columns/editorials that Welles used to write for newspapers ever been collected in book form?
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Criterion releases Othello on blu-ray
Sure, but that was 25 years ago. Who knows how her opinions have changed, and what the business arrangements are regarding the new restorations and release.

Re: Criterion releases Othello on blu-ray
Not to mention that Beatrice Welles is herself on the CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT DISC in (what I thought was) a very charming interview.
I see no reason to assume ill will persists between her and Criterion.

Re: Othello streaming on FilmStruck
Yes, the care which Criterion shows for their disc presentations made me surprised to see this. Using a less than optimum transfer for streaming if that's all that's available is understandable, but cropping the image is a sin I had hoped we were all past. Sadly, the advent of widescreen TVs just ch...

Re: Othello streaming on FilmStruck
It's been cropped to standard widescreen 16:9 ratio. Here's an example I screenshotted:

Othello streaming on FilmStruck
OTHELLO is now streaming on Criterion's new service, FilmStruck. Unfortunately it seems like it's in the wrong aspect ratio.
Hopefully this is just whetting the appetite for a Blu-ray release soon.

THE TRIAL blog post on FforFilms.net
Well, I've gone and done it again, writing about another Welles film. This time, it's THE TRIAL. I also take some time to talk about some similarities to Patrick McGoohan's amazing TV show, The Prisoner. I invite you to read and share your thoughts over at my blog, https://fforfilms.net/2016/06/09/t...

NoFake wrote:As to Jo Cotten being a better choice for the role of Guy Van Stratten, a curious connection, of course, is that Cotten would wed Patricia Medina five years after the film was released.
That is interesting. I didn't realize that. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Mr. Arkadin blog post on FforFilms.net
I like Tim Holt much better. The problem for me is Arden's voice (ironically, since he came from radio acting.) The reason I keep thinking of Jo Cotten is not only because of THE THIRD MAN, but also a role like SHADOW OF A DOUBT, where he plays a villain that is creepy yet nevertheless has charm. Th...
