Re: Welles radio invades Xbox One
Redacted until I do more volume-fixing. It's amazing how much inconsistency there is for the level of loudness for a simple conversation. Were people in 1939 constantly readjusting their radios as the audio kept flipping from pianissimo to fortissimo for no apparent reason? Could the changing level...

Re: WTVR's WOTW (1970)
Ooh, I'd not heard of that one. I was thinking about different versions of War Of The Worlds only recently. I'm looking for a good quality copy of KPEN 1965 and WKBW 1974 as the 32kbps versions sound like trash. (I have a higher quality of the 1974 WKBW but it's been cut down to 75 minutes, losing s...

Re: Howard Koch on KMOX 1970 talking about War Of The Worlds
Thanks, I didn't know about that one.
(I'd been looking through my tapes for any related material, documentaries etc. I also found "Leonard Maltin - Theatre Of The Imagination", 1988, but I think that's a well known one isn't it?)

Howard Koch on KMOX 1970 talking about War Of The Worlds
Here's a recording of the show "At Your Service" on KMOX, St. Louis, Missouri, 20th November 1970. Host is Jim White, guest is Howard Koch promoting his book "The Panic Broadcast". The show ran from 8pm until midnight. The first two hours are complete minus commercials. War Of Th...

Re: Cavalcade of America
Yes it looks like they have a complete set of the *known* Welles Cavalcades. It's interesting that the voice actors are listed on that page, because they're uncredited in the actual episodes. Perhaps they had official transcription discs with documentation, as opposed to some of Lilly's discs which ...

Re: Cavalcade of America
Upgrades for several of the Welles episodes here, and we can right-click and save-as - nice. https://auislandora.wrlc.org/islandora/search/dc.description%3A%28orson%29 Cool, not only is "Admiral Of The Ocean Sea" different from the Lilly version (we already had the alternate mp3 but this ...

Thanks!
Yes, I remember waiting weeks and weeks for a package of cassettes to arrive in the post. I've got shelves and shelves of the things.

Re: Cavalcade of America
Ooh, I've not heard of those 4 from 1935/36. Are they available online anywhere? Hmmm... Both Haendiges and Goldin list another show for that date: "I WAS MARRIED ON BATAAN" 10-05-42 Madeleine Carroll Author: Arthur Miller Maybe Welles' was written, but not produced? -Craig I solved this. ...

Re: Indiana University website goes live today!
Thanks, Dan, it wasn't until rereading this entire thread last night that I saw your post that the previously-lost Shadow episode "Cold Death" was now a thing. I now have 42 Shadows... are those all that are circulating? I have 42 also. Not included in the 42 is a bad sounding "House...

Terry wrote:Winning Friends in Latin America is yet another, though there's no Welles involvement in that one.
Ambersons gets a *very* brief mention in it though.

Here you go.

For the tapes themselves, the 2-part BBC show probably contains most. The others contain shorter extracts, plus long interviews with Jaglom.

Re: Simon Callow on Orson Welles (BBC Radio, 8th May 2018)
I'd never heard anything from the Jaglom lunch tapes before. Really? I've got these if you want them? Henry Jaglom on Orson Welles (7th Ave Project, KUSP, 2003.08.25) (68 mins) Lunches With Orson Welles (New York Times Book Review, 2013.07.12) (42 mins) The Lost Tapes of Orson Welles Episode 1 (BBC...

Re: Indiana University website goes live today!
But you'd be surprised how many "OTR Fans" (?) still long for faults... "The static and the clicks make me think of the old days!" So of course, Balance In All Things: The Sweet Spot lies between a dirty multi-dubbed disc, and an over-scrubbed digital file. There's so many old f...

Re: Indiana University website goes live today!
In COMMERCIAL releases, such little pauses and glitches are generally edited out; but in an ARCHIVAL setting, sometimes folks feel that the "purist" take requires keeping everything present in the original. Well, for myself I edited them back together as good as I could. Where a portion w...
