YouTube critic Bob Chimpman on Welles and The Transformers: The Movie
Online movie critic Bob Chipman has a series of videos called Really That Good where he tries to explain the value of good that are generally not explained (I highly recommend the whole show) and another weekly series called In Bob We Trust that is more about current pop culture. Well his last episo...

Re: Mr. Arkadin on DVD soon
I don't know if this has been mentioned but Arden was in a Chaplin film I think it's called The King of New York (I was channel surfing and came in about half through it on TCM) where he has a cameo as an elevator bell boy helping Chaplin get a firehose off his middle finger (believe me it was reall...

James Whale: masterfully transmitted the silent German expressionist style into the Hollywood sound era, combining it with a wicked black humor. BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE OLD DARK HOUSE, and INVISIBLE MAN are essential viewing. Roger Corman: yes, Roger Corman. His Edgar Alan Poe series for AIP is ...

Orson Wells and Star Trek: TMP's teaser and TV spots
I was watching the second disc of the Star Trek: The Motion Picture Director's Edition and was watching the Teaser and TV spots and I thought heard Orson Wells' doing the voice over for them. I'm pretty sure he did them but does anyone know for sure? This wouldn't really surprise me since Robert Wis...

I'm no lawyer, but the summary you've provided, Todd, seems to me to say that the 20% profit participation refers to whatever profits had accrued prior to the exit agreement. And since there were no profits prior to the exit agreement, Welles was entitled to 20% of nothing. The thing is that while ...

It's strange how Welles is hotter than ever in terms of book releases, but Criterion has decided no more dvds... I too thought that Fake and Arkadin did well for them; sure got great reviews and press. And when they were releasing laser discs, I beleieve Criterion put out Kane, Ambersons, Shanghai,...

I think that while Mr. Wells was probably thinking more about the size of his pay check than anything else, I would think that TF: TM is just as inspirational to legions of Transformers fans as Citizen Kane was to others. Simply put if it wasn't for TF: TM I wouldn't known or much less really would...
