Re: Journey into Fear DVD Release

Can't Warner Brothers just issue this thing through their "burn-on-demand" program and get it over with? What are they waiting for? A future deluxe release? Well, based on the treatment they gave The Ambersons on DVD I they have any special plans for it. What is the holdup?

There exists a December 1946 cutting continuity for THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI

Roger,

Is there a place where a person such as myself could view said cutting continuity?

Re: Chimes at Midnight - New Issue

Okay, got it today. Definitely an upgrade in picture in sound compared to my former copy. Not state-of-the-art, but very watchable! Worth the $17.99, even for a DVD-R. It will do until a truly restored DVD/Blu-ray is released.

Aww, hell, I went ahead and ordered it. Can't be any worse than my "Korean import".

Re: The Stranger

I am new to the world of Blu-Ray and like the Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs for titles I don't already have on DVD. The Blu-Ray machine is in the living room with the "good" HDTV, while downstairs (where I spend most of my time), we have a "not as good" 480i TV, and a DVD player to pai...

I received my DVD from Amazon yesterday and started viewing it last night. I gave the documentary a brief glance and then went straight to the Rick, Chuck and Janet commentary. It's terrific. I'm picking up where I left off when I get home tonight. So much to explore.

I saw the set at my local FYE tonight, put out a few days early. My copy has been shipped by Amazon, so I must wait patiently for it to arrive.

My Don Quixote DVD came today. It's the first time I've gotten to see it. While I certainly don't mind seeing rare footage shot by Mr. Welles, I see that the general consensus regarding this project was right on the money. It's a baffling and unpleasant juxtaposition of all sorts of sights and sound...

Please do. I had seen that review on Amazon and have been quietly curious. My current DVD with the non-removable Asian subtitles is not entirely a letdown, but I'm still certainly on the prowl for an upgrade.
