Re: THE IMMORTAL STORY on DVD
Hadn't seen this yet, thanks for the information. A bit pricey, but it's going on my wish list.

Re: Bricks from Grace Hall of the Todd School for Boys
I would be interested as well, although it's just a damn shame it had to come to this.

Re: Magnificent Ambersons on PBS HD
Did some searching on line, and it appears that some (of course including you Roger), do have TCM HD. I find it odd then that I have Time Warner Cable and do not have it. I think I'll be doing some calling to see what I can come up with. I would LOVE to have that channel.

Re: Welles and Shakespeare
Came across this website a few months ago while doing some light research on Shakespeare that lists Welles, along with Whitman, Twain and others who they consider to be "past doubters" of Shakespeare's ability to author the works that are credited to him. A number of interesting theories t...

Re: "In my father's Shadow" by Chris Welles Feder
Thank you for the recommendation Tony. I have been looking forward to this book since I spotted it on amazon, now even more so!
Just out of curiosity (because I am always interested in books about Orson that I haven't read) what are the other 4 books in your top 5 written about him?

Re: French Macbeth DVD?
The French set has the two versions we're all aware of, the original Scots accent cut on Disc 1, the shorter version on Disc 2, and Disc 3 is dedicated to extras, including a comparison of the two versions, the Mercury recording of the play released elsewhere on CD, and other stuff. The forthcoming...

Re: French Macbeth DVD?
Three versions? Interesting. I've only heard of two: the 86-minute release version and the 108 minute preview version, restored in 1980. What's the third? Yes, you are right, there are two versions included, but three discs. My mistake--sorry about that--I simply thought that there were three versi...

Re: French Macbeth DVD?
The picture quality of the version I watched is very nice, as is the sound. There are two other versions of the film that I haven't had time to watch yet. There is a book included with the set as well, of course it is in french, so I'll probably spend a portion of my summer attempting to translate i...

I've sent an email as well. It's ridiculous that a campaign like this needs to be waged, but thank you for your efforts Kathleen.

Re: Official OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND Thread - All things OSotW he
I must say, I'm a bit hesitant to read the script simply because I don't want it to influence the experience I will have watching the film. That having been said, of course I may never get to see the film, or it may be years before I see it, so since I currently have the script in my grubby little h...

Re: Kane on Blu-ray
I'm not certain of the visual advantages of blu-ray since I don't own a player, I'm assuming big budget, special effects laden films will look a little better, but is there really any real advantage to having a film like Kane on blu-ray?

Re: French Macbeth DVD?
If anyone else is interested in this set, I think that I managed to purchase a copy from amazon france--it's amazing what you can do with babelfish. It was the last copy they had in stock, but I checked a few weeks ago and they didn't have one in stock, so perhaps they simply get a few from time to ...
