On my website, greghatfield.net, I give my impressions of a few of the books on Welles that came out in 2015, plus the Magician documentary.

I just got this book yesterday and am enjoying it immensely. Great stories, with terrific characters, all led by Orson on a whirlwind of a project. It's terrific.

Surely someone has a copy of this somewhere, other than the Paley Center..

A couple of things about this book. Maybe this the way Orson should be studied in the future: Blocks of time, clearly identifying what he was working on, filming, writing, wanting to film, etc. Orson Welles in Italy is one of the best books on Welles I've ever read and I've read them all. I am reading this book right now and it is totally fascinating. I recommend it to all Welles fans.

Oh be still my heart. A restoration of Chimes at Midnight would be the best present a boy could have. I've seen a very nice print of this that I found online a few years ago and would love to have it on my shelf. Good luck with all your work, Michael Dawson.

Image is the distributor. My DVD says that Gray Film Sipirs S.A. (South Africa?) owns the program content. God, what a tangled web Orson's work has. But I agree, this would make a great Blu-Ray re-release.

Our boy gets a nice retrospective with big screen showings of the Welles' classics all next week in Santa Monica in a program entitled Rogue Genius.
