Re: The Many Documentaries on Orson Welles

Albert Maysles is still going strong. He is digging his vaults and is releasing new documentaries from unused archive footage, like from "Gimme Shelter" comes new "Get yer ya-ya's out" and he also mentions Welles. AM: This is something we’ve been doing with several of our films. ...

TOSOTW

I have interviewed Oja Kodar couple of times and last time I spoke with Oja was in April 2007 and then she told me that they are going to make TOSOTW as a documentary, because they can't make it as a Orson Welles movie because they could never make it as he would have done it etc. She also told that...

20th Century , Ford Star Jubilee, CBS-TV 1956

I was lucky to see quite a good copy of this, which nicely adds to Orson Welles' other work doing comedy in American television during mid 50's. Other two are, of course, his own "Fountain Of Youth" and his appearence in "I Love Lucy". I think this is better than the 1939 Campbel...

Miracle à Hollywood and other writings by OW

I finally got hold of Orson Welles’ book of his plays “Miracle a Hollywood aka The Unthinking Lobster and A Bon Entendeur aka A Fair Warning. ( see This Is Orson Welles p.405-407) I have read the former and it was funny and witty and I think very much in the same mood as other Welles’ writings: a sh...

Fade To Black - Straight to DVD in Finland

I bought it last week and it was better than I expected. All the cliches (which we love) of film noir-genre are there, although OW gets beaten too much and it makes one wonder, would old liberal and anti-fascist have gotten so involved, or just grabbed the money(for his film) and the girl... :) link...

Could this have been Orson's F-for Fake part 2?
It would have been nice to know his opinion.

I was disappointed to hear that they are making a documentary and right away suggested that if it is going to be released on DVD, that they would include some sort of rough cut according to the script as an extra, but Oja said it is not her decision anymore ( after the deal). I have same kind of hop...

Hi Ray, I talked with Oja Kodar few weeks ago and she told me that Showtime has an option for 2 1/2 months and they want to check the material: the negative in Paris and other material in LA, before closing the deal. And they are going to make it as an documentary, because they feel that it would be...
