Re: The Happy Prince

Great discussion, folks. NF, Tuttle was one of THE stalwarts of L.A. classic radio: https://radiogoldin.library.umkc.edu/Home/RadioGoldin_Records Very talented (though in later interviews, she sometimes comes across as thinking such talent belonged to only her!) Here's Orson's first PRINCE: https://...

Re: The Happy Prince

For me, God's arguable failure here not only to follow his own teachings, by abandoning the poor (once) Happy Prince who had served him so faithfully, but to egotistically crow that now, he will have the Prince to praise him "forevermore" -- despite his having turned a blind eye, over a p...

Re: The Happy Prince

Dear NF - Among the things that strikes me about the story is its final words, spoken by God: "And in this city of gold the Happy Prince shall praise me." Which runs counter to everything the Prince believed, lived, valued -- and died for. Haven't checked out the lit crit for the story A s...

Re: Hunt for lost 'Magnificent Ambersons' footage in Brazil

We do have to credit some of these threads already being in the source material though, yes?

(Of course, Orson's choice of pieces to work on/with factors in, too.)

Take care and be well,

Re: Sherman Clark Universal Staff photographer

Great story, NF!

(Reminds me of the time after Oscar Wilde's WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE way back at NYU, when a friend told me, "And you were SO handsome... on stage!")

Re: Sherman Clark Universal Staff photographer

Well, he doesn't look like Quinlan. But he doesn't look like Orson from the late Thirties, either. It's from a distance, and the focus is soft. But look close, and give it some time: the man in that dark jacket has a different hairline, is fuller of face, and is much more portly, than when he was Br...

(... because he thought actors were the most important people on a film. set) A-HA! Joe, at long last, the ultimate proof of the man's brilliance! [...his domineering side (he was tough on the crews, but they took it because they respected him)... Re: Closed theaters turn to OTR?

I've been blessed to do two Zoom audio plays with a new group out of NYC - and Orson would approve of the content!

We started with a classic play, SEVEN KEYS TO BALDPATE, just recorded THE TEMPEST, and may do DRACULA down the line.

Take care and be well, all.

Re: The Tell-Tale Heart

I have a fond spot for I'M A FOOL; it takes place at Cedar Point, the closest/most visited amusement park of my childhood. As far as TELL-TALE, here's a reading by a contemporary of Orson's who is a more obvious fit for the material ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-jl0WyOkaA Enjoy! Take good care...

Re: Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic coming to Netflix

I love Orson, or I would not be here; but many things (including my long friendship with Arthur Anderson) have informed my opinion that he did not walk on water. Also, as a guy who labors in the field a bit myself, I know that Drama is not Documentary. So, as with the charming valentine STAN & O...
