Re: Preliminary Magnificent Ambersons DVD info on amazon.com
Blu-ray.com uses Amazon listings for fee referrals and probably has a script that automatically uploads anything that gets added to Amazon's blu-ray listings so members can click through to buy. I wouldn't take it as a sign they know anything.

Re: Did Welles steal LADY from William Castle?
On a side note, King's original novel was republished in the UK a couple or so years ago, and it can be easily obtained on Amazon. Nice Rita cover as well.

Re: JADED (1989) - Oja Kodar's directorial debut
Thanks Eve, that's tempting. What did you think of the film? Jeff Wilson's comments above may have scared many people, including myself, away from it - probably for good reason - but the film's apparent fade into oblivion (and ironically Jeff's review) has somewhat rekindled my curiousity about it....

Re: Which editions to get? "The Stranger"
There is no 115 minute version, any such listing is a mistake. There is only the 95 minute version. The MGM DVD is the best as far as I am aware.

Re: Orson Welles recorded message for Oscar '71
Your best option (if possibly expensive) is probably to contact the Academy themselves and have it transcribed. Their research web page says this: Acceptance speeches are transcribed from video and audio recordings of the Awards ceremonies. The Academy's holdings for full ceremony coverage begin wit...

On the front page of Wellesnet now is a link to "Wellesnet Legacy Site" in the right hand column near the top of the links. Just follow that.

It means the Quixote page on the old, old version of Wellesnet. You can find it here.

Mr Bongo appears to be fairly negligent of the law, but their disc is listed at the US Amazon site, where it will be available from tomorrow (with free Prime two-day shipping, for those in the Prime program.

Re: Wise's & Moss' Role In "Ambersons" Re-Editing
Welles hired Jack Moss to handle his business affairs. Moss allowed Welles' contractually guaranteed final cut to lapse. That is the crux of the issue. It is the lead domino from which nothing else in the whole affair can proceed. At the end of the day, Welles is the one responsible for the failure ...

Goodbye, For Real!
So this day has been long in coming, one might say. In fact, in you are the archive-diving type, you can probably find where I first stated my intention years ago now of getting out of this place, and various things, largely my own lackadaisical attitude, led to things dragging on and on, and nobody...

Re: The Deep Rough Cut?
Thanks to both of you. Roger, how did you manage to see an entire rough cut of the film? Was it screened publicly? I'd like to see this at some point, but who knows if that will ever happen. Roger and I both saw the rough cut at the Locarno Film Festival several years ago, and I would echo Roger's ...

Re: Too bad they can't close Wellesnet Facebook down instead.
Ray, you are correct in your explanation. A web site has to pay for its domain name, and then the hosting fees. Domain names can be paid for yearly or in multiple year chunks. The price ranges, but the site I had been using charges $15 per year. The hosting site I use is $9 a month, as I said. Those...

Re: Too bad they can't close Wellesnet Facebook down instead.
Again, Glenn, I was not involved in any way in the last round or two of fundraising. I had nothing to do with the scripts offer. Consequently, I have not handled any money from anyone related to Wellesnet beyond the very first time funds were raised, something like four or five years ago? Though gen...
