"Beam me up, Mr. Welles"!

Did the production company also have in mind, his wine commercials during TV advertizing breaks?

Re: Hunt for lost 'Magnificent Ambersons' footage in Brazil

Re: New "The Deep" footage?

I hope this is valid. The man in the striped shirt whose face we can not see has a dark outline at the side that could resemble a beard similar to the one Harvey has for the film.

Re: Too hard on The Stranger?

I have also written about the film in a detailed article in the2015 print version of FILM INTERNATIONAL. Former Ph.D graduate and colleague Richmond Adams plans another article on the film looking at it from a different perspective. Clifford Heylin and Naremore have also recognized the values of the...

Re: Hopper / Welles

THE AMERICAN DREAMER (1971) has just resurfaced on youtube in a faded print. 20 mins into this documentary Hooper believes THE LAST MOVIE that he is seen editing will be better than EASY RIDER and draws some comparisons with AMBERSONS. He also mentions welles approaching Universal for $500,000 but t...

Re: MANK - Netflix biopic on Herman Mankiewicz

Excellent article by Joe and pithy comments by our very own JR. One tragedy of this film was that money was available to make it, and not for completing and restoring Welles's other unfinished projects.

Re: MANK - Netflix biopic on Herman Mankiewicz

Good to know this, Steve. At least there are some people with integrity around. When invited to meet her by our university (Dis) Honors Program several years ago, I refused. Those who did blithely swallowed her "guff" since she was a "celebrity."

Re: MANK - Netflix biopic on Herman Mankiewicz

An ironic take on Ford's "Print the Legend" from THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE (1962). But the fact is the Kael legend has long been debunked.
