I have a vhs copy of The Immortal Story that i bought about 2 years ago which had a unwatchable image and poor sound. It was not letterboxed and when i compared it to the TCM version it was like day and night! TCM must have found a very good print of the film which i am very happy to have recorded. ...

I noticed that there is one difference between the Criterion laserdisc and the Criterion dvd. On the laserdisc the words F for Fake are shown as the films starts but on the dvd the scenes at the train station starts the film. Also comparing both the dvd is much brighter, sharper and with more info o...

All of them are on dvd except The Immortal Story which i have a lousy vhs copy so i hope TCM shows a better print of the film. TCM is the best source on tv to show great films and ...

The dvd versions of Citizen Kane and Fritz Lang's Metropolis i think benefited the most for being on dvd. Both movies were in poor shape for years but when released on dvd both movies look clean, fresh, and sharp with detail i have never seen! As a film buff i am happy the dvd can improve the movies ...

I also agree that the Criterion print of Ambersons looks better than the Criterion print of Citizen Kane but the 50th anniversary edition that Criterion issued looks the best of all the laserdisc versions of Citizen Kane. I think the original negative of Ambersons was better preserved than the negat...

I have both the CAV and the CLV versions of the movie from The Criterion Collection. The CAV version is gray and comes with 2 discs and the extras. The version with the red cover is one disc and has no extras on it. Both do not have the trailer which i would like to see ( I think the TCM vhs copy ha...

I have close to 200 laserdiscs and have not experienced laser rot but some of my laserdiscs have glue on the edge of the disc which can be wiped away. I have all the Orson Welles laserdiscs that were on the Criterion Collection and all of them are in fine shape. I am still keeping my discs as long a...
