Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
That's a lot of vitriol to heap on a 20 year old college girl. She has to do something now that neurological trauma ended her athletic career, so why not review movies she was intrigued enough to see. Sheesh.

Re: ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ being finished in Los Angeles for Netflix
Jonathon Rosenbaum said at the Chicago Film Festival Q&A that Oja's character is indeed Hannaford in the film-within-the-film, his avatar that allows him have sex with his leading man vicariously. Vicarious living seems to be a central theme of the story, going all the way back to the tourists ...

Re: Welles radio invades Xbox One
Could the changing levels be because the Mercury & Cambells were on 4 or 5 minute discs and the levels would change from disc to disc? They'd have to have 2 (or more) disc cutters operating so that one could start recording just before the other one reaches the end so there'd be a small overlap...

Wind screenplay (with Netflix watermark) available here, for some reason: https://thefilmstage.com/news/download-the-2018-awards-season-screenplays/ I got a 404 error (document not found) so it looks as if it’s been taken down. Did you download a copy? Still works for me. Direct link: https://guild...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
The Welles/Wind articles seem to be slowing down a bit now I'm still seeing a steady stream of Tweets about it. Nice to see Welles reverberate through the public consciousness. https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=%22other%20side%20of%20the%20wind%22&src=typd&lang=en

Re: Welles radio invades Xbox One
Terry - I think it may sometimes have to do the fact that the actual AM broadcasts were probably compressed - a lot. (To prevent exactly the continual home adjustment you're describing.) We're not usually listening to recordings of what the receivers got on their end back then. Too, I've had very s...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
I wish I hadn't mentioned Worm Wood as I think hardly anybody will watch it. I'm glad you did; I'm starting it right now. Hmm, the bit from Revelations at the beginning reminds me of Lucifer, the Illumined One. As for Masonic imagery, I used to listen to Bill Cooper's spooky show on shortwave back ...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
I see that back In 2005, Paul Hunt listed himself not only as a sound man, but also an editor and line producer. I think this was the same era when he was publicly pitching he had obtained the rights to complete the film. Richard Waltzer, who is now credited as a Cineaste in the finished movie, was...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
Welles became involved in a project about the RFK assassination, that explored the possibility that Sirhan Sirhan was an assassin programmed by an MK Ultra-like organization to kill Kennedy. Fascinating read, Mike, thanks for the link. I find it interesting (and perhaps even telling) that Welles ga...

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
there are clearly under age girls in the steam bath LOL! No there aren't, not even remotely. there is Mavis, who though of a working age in real life was picked, I believe, for the part because she looked like a school girl. She tells Hannaford she needs to take a correspondence course in order to ...

I made it as far as C is for Completion, Fear of. Great format for a review, but none too flattering (or accurate, in my opinion) in its definitions.

Re: Reactions to 'The Other Side of the Wind'
The one shot that really bugs me though, and one that can't really be explained away, is when Otterlake walks up to Jake standing outside Zara's car (1:49:54). It's obviously Little (wearing different clothing from Bogdanovich) and the line "I'm sorry Zara, it appears our leader is a little pi...
