OW French interview 1972

When I'm casting, I tend to make the mistake of all producers: I cast for how you look. I think about (the voice), but how you look is the first consideration. Then when I have them on the stage, and I'm very interested in their voice, it's too late to change, unless you dub them. I make that mistake a lot. If a film sounds wrong, it doesn't look right. Movies depend so much on rhythm; they are so close to music, closer to music then to a drama of the theatre. So if the sound, and the rhythm of the sound is wrong, no image can save it.

As noted by the YouTube comment, this interview must have been filmed circa 1982, not in 1972. The reference to President Reagan and Warren Beatty's film REDS (1981) is the giveaway. A pleasant interview all the same.

Thanks for the correction, Roger. Good catch.
