Orson Welles's follow-up to Citizen Kane adapted Booth Tarkington's Pulitzer prize-winning novel about industrial progress and the loss of innocence set against a tumultuous family, the Ambersons. Welles infamously lost control of the film before its final release.
We'll examine its production, its destruction, and attempts to restore what many consider Welles's forgotten masterpiece.
Special Guests Include: Joseph McBride, William Friedkin, Christopher Welles, Jonathan Rosenbaum & Peter Bogdanovich.
Guest co-host: Roger L. Ryan

Thanks Mike. A fabulous program! I gobbled up the whole 4-hour and 9-minute show last night like it was a bottomless box of popcorn. Very nice contributions from Friedkin and Chris Welles Feder, and especially from Roger Ryan and Joseph McBride. Congrats on a terrific, very comprehensive program, and a terrific series as well (I've already listened to the SECRET HONOR program too, and look forward to listening to the one on EXECUTIVE ACTION soon). Keep up the great work!
