I was lucky enough to attend a concert by Ralph McTell, a British singer/songwriter of something like the Richard Thompson/James Taylor generation and mode, on a bill with guitarist John Williams, last weekend at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, which is part of the Shakespeare's Globe theatre in London. When he announced a song as 'The Girl on the Jersey Ferry' my Welles-radar perked up, and indeed the lyric is a fairly straight retelling of Bernstein's account from Citizen Kane.
The song's featured on what appears to be a legit YouTube channel, so hope it's appropriate to post it here.

Re: 'Girl on the Jersey Ferry'
Remember when the movie "Indecent Proposal" borrowed the story to give the Robert Redford character some depth?

yes, I noticed that last time I watched Indecent Proposal and wondered if anyone else cared that it was ripped from Kane.
You may remember me from such sites as imdb, amazon and criterionforum as Ben Cheshire.

As I get older I appreciate Bernstein's 'the girl on the Jersey ferry' more and more.
