A Christmas catalog has come across my desk advertising, of all things, Citizen Kane memorabilia. It's the latest from "TCM Archives." For $139.00, a red "Rosebud" sled can be yours to burn at will. If that's too pricey, for only $29.95, you can get hold of a "Citizen Kane Snowglobe" to smash. Tired of Welles? Well then there's always the old stand-by: Casablanca poker chips ($119.00). Shocked?

The snowglobe is a little too pricey too, although it would make a nice paperweight. I can't imagine why anyone would pay that much for a sled, unless they've got money to wipe their ass with, like Spielberg.

Steven Spielberg to donate ‘Rosebud’ sled from ‘Citizen Kane’ to Academy Museum

"It's going to be at the Academy Museum eventually – the new Academy museum. It's in my office right now and it's been there for years and years, ever since I purchased it. It was at home for a while and then it was in my office. But I think it really belongs in a museum so everybody can see it."

"...of course, I and my fellow 'young turks' could not find a nickel to give Orson, when he practically begged for it, but hey - whatever!"

In the crazy movie "Hellzapoppin" (sp?) at one point they come upon a Rosebud sled, and someone cracks, "Didn't they burn that?!"
So maybe Steven purchased the prop sled from Hellzapoppin?

There's almost ALWAYS more than one copy of an important prop for a film - even if only in case of accidents.
