Othello: the new dvd set?

Postby Josh P » Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:09 pm

aside from the brief two paragraphs in the recent article about the Falstaff screening, are there anymore details on the (possibility) of a new dvd set of othello?
when money talks, i hate to listen.
but lately, its been screaming in my year.

Slightly off-topic, but I am curious.... Does anyone know who is behind the Dax Foundation (holders of the Citizen Kane Oscar and rights to Othello). The work they have done sounds admirable.

I have read their mission statement and accomplishments, but there is no mention of who supplied the cash. The site states "Dax is a successful industrialist and businessman with a long history of building profitable companies around the world."

The always reliable wikipedia claims "The organization was established in 2007 by Dax, an international industrialist, who has provided a $75 million initial endowment to fund the Foundation’s programs and initiatives. The Dax Foundation does not currently accept donations, but does work actively with other not-for-profit animal and people charitable institutions."

Could it be Gregory Arkadin?

$75 Million!!!

My God, the hell with OTHELLO...

Let's all write to Mr. Dax and ask him to fund the work needed to finish THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND!

Peter: If it has any meaning, I think DAX has more to do with STAR TREK (remember Adzia Dax?) or cyber-games. The chances are that we are dealing with a pseudonym for a rather well-known person. Remember, too, that DAX is the German equivalent of our DOW, making a delicious reference which perhaps someone could not resist.

And that connection brings us back to Sir Basil Zaharoff and Gregory Arkadin.

Yes, Toddy, why not have Mr. French submit a proposal for the completion of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND to Mr. Dax? Wellesmet is a charitable organization, is it not? In fact, we are more charitable than most. We shall take any charity we can get, and "use no charity before its time."

Glenn
