Those screen grabs do look very good. Hello, Criterion?

With Beatrice's announcement that a major label is interested in restoring and releasing this film, that would be my guess, especially since they're releasing Othello on blu-ray. And if it is Criterion, you know they'll do a great job with it.

We've certainly come a long way from several years ago, when most of Welles' major work was not available on blu-ray (or even DVD, for that matter).

There doesn't seem to be any word on whether the ownership legal battle has reached a resolution. I fear that the increased visibility of this title, combined with successful screenings at the Film Forum and elsewhere, will only make the combating parties dig their heels in even more. An major label interested in releasing the film on home video is great, but until the ownership issue is resolved the label would be powerless to do so.
