Wow! The cover art is very classy, beautifully designed. Welles looks just like Jackie Gleason in Nothing in Common (1986)!

Yeah, Welles doesn't appear as he does in the film, at least as far as I could tell from the tiny image. Still, it's great news if it's a decent print. I'd love to replace the massively crappy bootlegs I have. Doesn't mention any specs though. Thanks for the news, Balaji.

I wonder if that image of Welles isn't from "The Merchant of Venice"?

Welles had a very long beard for his Shylock performance, so that isn't it.

I think it's Region 2, isn't it?

Has anyone purchased this yet? I'd like to hear how the picture quality is.

Mine should be en route from Italy, so we'll see how it looks. I don't have high hopes, but considering how bad the bootlegs I have look, it couldn't be much worse...I hope.

Jeff...please let us know how it is. I am pretty excited because the bootleg i have is simply horrible. There is no way in the world it can be any worse. By the way, how much did it cost and did you get it directly from dvd.it?

I ordered from dvdland.it, which cam much more highly recommended and was cheaper on shipping. It was about $23 with shipping. Following up on the order, I found that the disc has been delayed until 4/13, so it'll be a while yet before I get it.

i've received the italian IMMORTAL STORY dvd. First of all: the cover is completely different from the picture at www.dvd.it . god knows why they published such strange artwork in the internet.
the dvd contains IMMORTAL STORY in three versions: in english (with italian subtitles), in french (with italian subtitles) and in italian (with optional italian subtitles). the subtitles in the englisg version and in the french version are not optional. the extras are a picture to picture comparison of the three versions (in general it's the same picture but some shots are a little shorter in the french and in the italian version), a filmography of orson welles and some production notes (in italian). the picture quality is excellent, the color grading is better than in all the prints i've ever seen.
i got it with any problems from dvd.it and would recommend it to everybody.

That’s too bad about the Italian subtitles fixed on the bottom of the screen. Seems like that could be pretty distracting. I think I’ll stick with my UK VHS tape from Connoisseur Video unless I read compelling arguments in favor of the DVD.

Fantomas:
Can you confirm that this is a Region 2 Disc, as it says at the site?
Thanks

So if I'm reading correctly, the disc has three different versions of the film, rather than the same print with three different soundtracks? That's quite impressive. That alone makes it a must have, I'd think. Looking forward to getting mine.
