It doesn't irk me at all. I am simply presenting material supporting the opposite view. Sorry if my sarcasm offends. You've commented that a bootleg copy of the film is superior to the DVD; every bootleg I've seen has been a washed out looking mess, so let's say I'm dubious as to whether that is the way the film is supposed to look.
My comment about the gay KANE character was that anyone working in Hollywood at that time would hardly write a script with a flaming homosexual as lead and expect it to get made. Such characters were present in films of the time, but to expect such a film to be made by someone in Welles' particular position at that time is pushing things a bit. There's nothing "irked" about that view, to my eyes.

Jeff:
Here's a picture of Welles and Moreau on the set of Immortal: that is one huge camara! Is this what Kurant was talking about, or was this a typical colour camera at the time? When one compares this to the much smaller cameras he used for It's All True and Othello, the difference is startling.

your presentation of facts on IMMORTAL STORY you offered with great authority, without ever looking at what i found.
you are comfortable quoting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand sources to discredit my find, rather that to ask me to send you a copy to see if i found what i think i found.
when you let petty feelings ifluence you opinions here, you cheat your members, and your site.

ME:
yes, bootlegs are better than DVDS, and vacation flights will be available to the noon by sept. get real.
what you think i said doesn't make any f*cking sense?
i said the vhs is dramatic, and beutiful towatch with very cool tints, and excellent lighting. stuff that is nowhere in the DVD.
But since you are the psychic detective, and you know what i found is bullshit, i will just chuck it in the garbage now, because jeff knows all.

If there was a shrugging smiley, you would see it inserted here. I'm not sure why you're so bothered, to be honest. My comments came from what I have seen (the Italian DVD, a theatrical screening, two bootleg tapes (clearly suffering from generational degradation) and a bootleg DVD (also suffering from degradation), but no, not your tape), which I have repeatedly stated. I have never said that you are wrong and I am right. I am sorry if what I stated came across with too much authority; I'll be sure to qualify everything in the future.
Why don't you provide screen captures of your copy? I will post them on the site. People can look for themselves, if they even care. If you do, great. If you don't, great. This is not a vital issue one way or the other to me.

i would like to tell you that everything you post is full of shit, but i don't. I have more self control than you have.
if some one posts here, "hey, i found such and such." my first instinct is to see what i have that i can offer for trade.
you and glenn's first instinct is to degrade.
why be ugly when it's just as easy to be informative, and interested?

The feeling is mutual.
I have more self control than you have.
Of course you do.
If you want to continue this, do it off the board. I'm leaving the thread open on the off chance someone wants to continue the original conversation; if this line of discussion continues, I'll lock it.

Jeff: this would be fantastic if you have the time to do this: it just occurred to me that Kurant was Welles's cinematographer for 3 years, as The Heroine and Immortal were both filmed in 1966, and The Deep was filmed from 66-69, I believe. do you know if Kurant lensed Merchant also?
Looking forward to this!

I was sad to read your post about your disenchantment with the Board.
You've done so much through the years to help build knowledge and understanding of Welles.
We've all benefitted from your efforts.
Thank You.
Ditto, Jeff. I sincerely hope that your disenchantment/unhappiness with the board is a passing thing and you will feel differently after some consideration.
