Peter,
I am sorry to have to say this, but I am getting so bored with your posts, your self-importance and your attacks on Glenn. I wish you would take up less space on the message board . . . .

I second this since many of us are getting so fed up with these posts. They detract from what wellesnet is supposed to do.

I understand from both Lawrence French and Jeff Wilson that Wellesnet will soon have a new moderator who will be able to stop this kind of petty talk between posters. The board will also be open to new members. So for the many people who are getting fed up between what Keats would call a "pissing match" between him and Glenn Anders, I say to both of you: Please simply stop responding to each other. At least for 30 days. This is known in labor speak as a "cooling off period."

So post whatever you want about Orson Welles in any thread, but anything directed by either Glenn or Keats at each other will result in your being locked off the site.

You both seem to want to be left alone, but continue to attack each other. Nobody on the board likes to read this crap, so let this be a final warning: You may both end up being ex-communicated from the site if you so much as mention each other in the next 30 days.

Thanks to Keats and Glenn for your understanding why this step is needed, and Merry Christmas to you both.
Todd

Amen to that! And...
"God Bless Us, Everyone!" (a seasonal sentiment expressed by Tiny Tim, voiced by Arthur Anderson [?] on Orson Welles' classic 1938 broadcast of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol)

As the person quoted in the above post, I request that the Board invoke The Baeson Doctrine which clearly states:
final warning: You may both end up being ex-communicated from the site if you so much as mention each other in the next 30 days.

. I repeat the key clause -
. . . " ex-communicated from the site if you so much as mention each other"

After all you remember what the fellow said,
Direct threats require decisive action

Much like Al Pacino in Godfather 3, just when I think I am out, they pull me back in again. I am locking this thread. This should not require any explanation. The new moderator is forthcoming shortly. I have advised him to get to know the surroundings here before handing out bannings, warnings, and so on.

I find it a bit much for people to be calling for keats' removal, given that he is entirely correct about Glenn's behavior being not exactly above board, whatever keats' own behavior has been in defending himself. Nor is this the first time Glenn has behaved in a less than gracious manner; after the banning of another longtime member who will remain nameless (go back to February 2007 if you need a history lesson), another board member emailed me to show some leniency, and added "But I must admit, I know that Glenn has really annoyed some members with his high-handed dismissals of others' comments, and though often I have defended him, increasingly he has gone after me. But I have never suggested he not come back: I did comment that he might want to be more considerate when he does." Boards tend to develop alpha personalities, and Glenn clashed with the aforementioned banned member, and now he is clashing with keats. So let's not pretend Glenn is some kind of angel. His posts have often been valuable, but he is not without blame.

And Alfred/Lee, calling for someone to be banned when you have been a blatant abuser of sock puppets (a bannable offense, if you recall) is maybe not the wisest move, hmm?

Anyways, the new moderator should be up and running before long and we'll see what happens from there. If things continue to go downhill, more drastic measures, such as a complete board shutdown, can be taken. If anyone sees the need to take this up with me, feel free to do so, but I'm not going to have much sympathy either way. I'm not sure what you would expect me to do, either.

Hopefully you are all having a pleasant holiday season, and have a happy new year.
