What are Welles's films currently available on DVD?
Citizen Kane - Gold Edition
http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Kane-Gold ... 504&sr=1-3
That looks pretty good - then there's the 2-disk special edition
http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Kane-Gold ... 504&sr=1-3
I have that - Nice clean print - can't complain.
How about Magnificent Ambersons? There's this French edition - an import
http://www.amazon.com/Magnificent-Amber ... 767&sr=1-6
Is this the only quality print available?
Films in print - North America
Ambersons
I have that French version of Ambersons on DVD and it's acceptable. Nothing like the Criterion version on laserdisc, but okay if you need a quick DVD fix.
When will we hear info about the official Warner Bros. release? And Journey Into Fear is supposed to be released, too.

Thanky Kane76 - Hopefully a domestic print of Ambersons is on the way soon -
Lady from Shanghai? There's the Columbia thing
http://www.amazon.com/Lady-Shanghai-Rit ... 739&sr=1-1
It's OK - they could've included more extras - I'd like to see the original script and the Welles memo for that - the print's good - could use some cleaning up-
The Stranger?I have the Roan DVD - but I think it's harder to find now - It's good - nice print - No extras - I'd like to see the original script - what about this Triad version ?
http://www.amazon.com/Stranger-Remaster ... 787&sr=1-2
Apparently DVD Beaver likes the MGM version - OK
http://www.amazon.com/Stranger-MGM-Film ... 702&sr=1-1

What about that film about everyone's favorite Thane of Cawdor? Macbeth - I have this Korean one
http://www.amazon.com/Macbeth-Fully-Res ... 297&sr=1-1
to me it's nothing great - kind of fuzzy, any decent ones? I think there was a good French print available in a 5-pack thing that disapeared quickly...

Othello? There's this one -
http://www.amazon.com/Orson-Welles-Othe ... ohamet/dp/
- nice print -it's findable - but it's out of print, I think - plus it's not quite up to today's restoration standards - and there's the Korean version, which is based on the American version -
http://www.amazon.com/Orson-Welles-Othe ... 640&sr=8-1
how's the quality on that one?
Mr. Arkadin? The Criterion version
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Mr-Arkad ... 002&sr=1-1
That's cool - great package ...
It's All True - there's this
http://www.amazon.com/Its-True-Francisc ... 446&sr=8-2
What's there is nice -but one wants to see the more elaborate footage for all four stories - so you can't say it's a definitive release...

The Trial - There's the Milestone edition, which I think is pretty decent
http://www.amazon.com/Trial-Max-Buchsba ... 323&sr=8-2
although apparently the French Canal + edition is better -

Chimes at Midnight - Apparently there's some negociations going on to have a North American release - so maybe one day - right now there's the Spanish version - which is a serviceable print - there's this Korean edition, which covers all three of the Shakepeares, cool - I don't know what the quality is on this -

Anybody have this "5 disc 'Orson Welles Collection'"?
http://www.amazon.com/Orson-Welles-Coll ... 25&sr=1-27
Probably not very good public domain versions of The Stranger and The Trial. But other stuff like King Lear, David and Goliath, and The Herb Shriner Show episode might be nice to have. Have never seen those around. Quality probably questionable as well, though.

Not available in North America
Magnificent Ambersons (announced)
MacBeth
Chimes at Midnight (negociations are underway, I think)
Immortal Story (copyright issues are a problem, here I think)
So of the 12 Welles-directed features, 8 are available, although only 4 with notable restoration & packaging standards. 4 aren't avalaible except through imports or cheap versions.
