Indeed, what a year it was.
Ray, sorry to hear that in a year with so many great things happening, you had troubles at work and home. Hopefully 2019 will be better for you.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. A very serious health issue in my immediate family (much improved by year's end) and the trials and tribulations of working at a daily newspaper in this age.
On the plus side, this website has allowed me to meet some fascinating people and enjoy some amazing experiences. I am blessed.

Re: 2018 in review
I've been a longtime reader of Wellesnet and even established an account a year or two ago, but sometimes it's a little tricky to know just when and how to jump into an ongoing discussion. This thread, however, seems like just the opportunity since I'd like to join the many other Wellesnet members who have, either here or elsewhere, thanked Ray for his work. It's been a great year for Welles but also for Wellesnet.com, and much of that success must certainly be chalked up to Ray's wise and diligent shepherding of the site.
And it really is quite astonishing how the site has become the center for all things Wellesian. News and current articles about Welles, the latest books, interviews with major players, and even the occasional scholarly article, they're all here. I'm also very appreciative of the thoughtful, highly informed comments by members and the very interesting discussions and debates that develop out of those comments. Even when debate occasionally becomes rather passionate, there's always more light than heat as well as an underlying sense that we're all in it because of admiration and--dare I say it--love for Orson.

Thanks for the kind words. It will be hard to top 2018 -- unless the fabled lost reels of Ambersons turn up in Brazil.
