This truly bizarre performance of the Poe story is from 1946 (and the Mercury Summer Theater.) The accent Welles employs is a bit unusual, perhaps Deranged Mid-Western, which still manages to sound exotic; it's not a stock item from his stable of accents.
The music by Benny Herrmann (with its thump-thumping bass) is creepily effective as well.

The Tell-Tale Heart
Re: The Tell-Tale Heart
With thanks to Terry, this is now available in far superior sound quality at the IU website:
https://orsonwelles.indiana.edu/items/s ... 975%2C3585
It is the second half of a two-part program from August 23rd, 1946. The first half features Welles' adaptation of Sherwood Anderson's "I'm a Fool".

Re: The Tell-Tale Heart
I have a fond spot for I'M A FOOL; it takes place at Cedar Point, the closest/most visited amusement park of my childhood.
As far as TELL-TALE, here's a reading by a contemporary of Orson's who is a more obvious fit for the material ~
Enjoy!
Take good care and be well,
