Orson Wells: Mercury Text Records Macbeth
What a Find! My mother passed away and buried in a cool dark place in her closet was Shakespeare's Macbeth by Orson Wells. It brought back so many memories of our childhood. We were living in the Pelham Parkway area of the Bronx and our neighbors in the next apt over were 2 retired teachers of Arts and Literature. Anna was blind and would listen to audio books or brail read. My twin sister and I spent many afternoons listening to a wide range of composers of Classical Music and Literature. They were priceless, treasured moments that helped shaped me into the person I am today. I went down to Zip Records to see if they had an idea of the value of this set. The manager looked at it and said, "honestly, it seems too valuable for me to determine." She directed me to Record City. I do not want to sell it, I just want to know how much this set is worth. Does anyone have any suggestons?

Welcome Kitty, thanks for sharing your memories. The great cartoonist Robert Crumb is the only one I've heard of who collected 78s, but he was mostly into Blues records. Here are a couple of websites you could check out to get you started:
78 rpm Collector's Community:
http://www.78rpmcommunity.com/
Site that buys 78s:
http://www.old78s.com/78s_we_buy.php
Or, you could try and contact this person who tried to sell a 78 rpm of Welles's Macbeth online:
http://shaksper.net/archive/2007/249-ma ... h-for-sale
Good luck. My thinking is that the value of the Macbeth set might be lower since there has already been a CD issue of it a few years ago, although that is now out of print:
